In the 23/24 school year, a children's chess course was held for the first time in cooperation with the Wettswil Parents' Council. Building on this experience, the program has been expanded and is now also open to children from the surrounding municipalities. The courses follow the proven Steps Method (Stappenmethode).

Group composition is based on age and playing strength. Group size is limited to a maximum of 8 children, and the minimum age is 1st grade (primary school).

• Türmlihaus, lower floor:
  6:00–6:30 PM and 6:30–7:00 PM – Beginner groups meet for half an hour each, focusing on playful practice of chess fundamentals.
• Türmlihaus, upper floor:
  7:00–8:00 PM – The advanced group practices tactics, opening principles, and more. These children have their own chess.com account chess.com and play online games regularly. We expect homework to be completed.
• Türmlihaus, upper floor:
  6:00–7:00 PM - The tournament group includes the strongest players. They practice positional play and endgames. We expect homework to be completed and at least 3 Saturdays of tournament play per half-year. The goal is to prepare children for tournament teams.

Course fees are CHF 50/semester for beginners and CHF 100/semester for the advanced and tournament groups. Please transfer the fee to our treasurer, Adrian Steinmann (IBAN CH50 8080 8004 3321 2260 6, Schachclub Wettswil, Hausmattstrasse 17, 8905 Islisberg), only after we have confirmed your child's spot. If too many children register, we may not be able to confirm everyone.

Where: Türmlihaus (Stationsstrasse 4) in Wettswil

When: Starting Thursday, August 20, and then every Thursday, provided there are no school holidays in Wettswil. Since we are very busy professionally, some Thursdays may occasionally be cancelled.
